The Rainbow Bus

We have never left the house so early (unless we were going to the gym), as we did today. But I knew we weren’t headed for the gym because Mom and Dad weren’t dressed in gym clothes. We showed up in this parking lot and there were hundreds of soldiers there, I’ve never seen so many. I am sure this was the biggest gathering of people ever, in the whole world.
All of us got into 5 buses. They all had these pretty rainbows on them. Come to think of it, I see rainbows all around Hawaii on cars, and signs and such. Mom says they are in the sky too, but I’ve never seen them there. I think she’s confused.
The buses went around the WHOLE island and we saw lots of beaches, not just icky Waikiki, I think I’ll like the other ones better.
We stopped at the Pali Lookout where it was REALLY windy. Mom and Dad wanted to hide me from the wind but I told them no, I wanna see. So they took me out and let me see. It wasn’t even cold at all.
Then we went to the Ala Moana Mall so Mom and Dad could eat. Of course since we were at a mall Dad went to the Apple Store. I’ve come to realize that Dad just likes Apples. This is ok though, since I bet he’ll get me one for my next birthday, don’t you think (if Grandpa Russ doesn’t get me one first).
Then we got back in the rainbow bus and went to the Bishop Museum.  I had never been to a museum before, and Dad told me it was a place they put old junk for people to see.  Mom said Dad should say it in a more positive way but Dad just laughed.  It didn’t sound too fun from what Dad said, but when we got to it, it was really cool!  It was a big building made out of lava rock.  Inside was ANOTHER building.  It was made out of reeds and grasses, and the museum lady said it would stand up even if a hurricane came!  The coolest part was they had a whole whale skeleton inside.  It was big enough to eat the grass house!
Then back into the bus and off again.  We drove by beaches and pineapple fields and through little and big towns.  Our last stop was at a Macadamia nut farm.  Mom and Dad got some macadamia nuts and we went home.
It was a long trip, but I saw a lot of sights and little of my stroller, so it was worth it.
