Google Maps and Abortion

06 Aug 05

Well, I guess I have news. Märia and I are going to Hawaii in October or November to live. =) Pretty exciting huh? Märia is running around singing this song: I'm goin to Havaii, I'm goin to Havaii. I keep telling her its Hawaii, but she says they pronounce it there with a V. I guess I will know in a few months. =) I tested out of SMU today. It is just one of many annexes to the school I am attending right now. Stands for Switching and Multiplexing Unit. Just a big telephone pbx really, with some data capabilities.

We got a camcorder, so pretty soon we will have videos up; certainly when we have a little one to videotape.

For your entertainment, I thought I would rip off some Google Map pictures, to show you where I live and work! All of the following pictures belong to Google, you can find the utility to find satellite pictures of where you live at Google.

This is where I live!
3517A Oakview Pl
Hephzibah, Ga 30815

The apartment building circled up top is where we live, and the pool circled is our complex pool, where all the ants go to cool off. Seriously, the ants invade the pool every day at about noon; residents mostly say they need to get cool just like everyone else! =)

Ok, to keep the colorscheme, yellow is where I live. The blue circled area is Fort Gordon. The white building in the red circle is Vincent Hall, the satellite communications school. It takes about 15 minutes to get to work. =)

This is a blown up picture of where I work. The white building is Vincent Hall again. The Field in purple is Barton Field. It is 3.5 miles around, and we run it at least 3 times a week. The track around it is red clay, and my shoes are totally red from it. And yes, those are football fields inside the track going around Barton Field. It is MASSIVE. You can actually be in the middle of it, and see forever looking up and down it. It makes you feel very small. =)

And just because I could, here is Grandma and Grandpa's house in Texas. I thought they would get a kick out of seeing satellite shots of their house. =)

And that is about it for news for now. I think I will leave with a quote that I have been thinking about recently... It is how I reply when people ask me how I can sympathize with those who bomb abortion clinics.

"Just because they didn't know they were killing human beings doesn't mean they wern't killing human beings" --- Colonel Graff to Ender in Ender's Game

This comes from Ender's Game. Ender asked why Humans were at war with an alien race called the Buggers. Graff explained that to the buggers, losing a few "workers" was no big deal. They had evolved from insects, and had a hive mind. Every worker (used in the same way as ants and bees use the word worker) was just another set of eyes and hands, but without a real life outside the Hive. Only Queens were sentient beings with unique genetic futures. So only killing Queens was murder. Graff explained that the buggers didnt know they were killing thinking sentient beings, they just thought they were shutting off cameras, clipping our fingernails. Ender asked why we attacked them back, why we didnt just try to reason with them. Graff stated that we had the duty to defend Humanity, whether the buggers knew they were killing beings or not.

Apply that to abortion, tell me what you think @ steven.rushing@gmail.com.
