Seporah is born!

Sorry it took so long to get this posted. Seporah was born last night at 1004 eastern time. She is 20.5 inches long, and weighs 9 lbs 2.8 ounces. She has a full head of short brown hair, and deep dark blue eyes, that will probably change to brown over the next couple of months. She is pretty active, and has a healthy pair of lungs. =) Stay tuned for pictures, pretty quickly! =) Read More...

A lot of whining...

Well, it's currently 2:53AM and I finally tossed and turned enough to kick my husband out of bed and on to the couch. Never thought that would happen, but I've only been asleep from 11pm to 1:40am this night. The rest of the time has been tossing and turning and moaning and groaning. I am truely sick of being pregnant. It's said that pregnancy and labor and delivery causes you to have a greater appreciation for your mother and I'm thinking this is just not true. Read More...

Merry Christmas!

We wanted to write and tell everyone Merry Christmas! So Merry Christmas! Last night we had friends over for dinner and we ate duck, tastes less like chicken and more like turkey for those who haven't had it. The friends we had over said we were murderers and it was slightly morbid for us to eat duck since we collect them :) . Just as a side note we have 20 lightbulbs in our house, 12 of them have burned out in the past 2 months (three were yesterday and we'd run out of fresh lightbulbs so it was slightly dark). We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

Life and Love and Why

Well, this Christmas season has been entertaining and interesting all around. I have been studying a new religion, Messianic Judiasm, and have learned alot about the bible that I've never really realized before. I spend all day saturdays there with their church and then drive home so I can attend church at the Baptist Church, where I will soon pass on my Youth Leader responsibilities to someone else. Probably at the beginning of the coming year. Read More...

Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

Well life at the Rushing house is anything but rushing. It's more like the waiting house. Countdown to Christmas, countdown to baby being born, countdown to Steven's birthday, countdown to getting out of Augusta, Georgia. Although technically we only have real countdowns for Christmas and Steven's birthday because we don't know when Seporah will make her entrance or when we'll make our departure from Augusta. We were too lazy to do reviews, but watch Narnia and Zathura. Oh and although I gave King Kong an 8/10, Steven gave it a 3 thumbs down (with vomit on the side). Read More...

Racked with Christmas Card Guilt...

Well it's now happened the fourth year in a row (or at least it has almost happened). Christmas has come and gone I have neglected to do my "wifely" duty of sending Christmas cards and a warm greeting to everyone. It's not so bad, except yesterday we recieved a whole bunch in the mail and I thought, "why didn't I do this again?" The first year we were married I had just barely survived my first quarter of nursing school and I didn't feel like sending them out. Read More...

RushingFamilyAlbum.com

Well, I scanned pictures for an hour last night, finishing two of Grandma's photo albums. Today I set up a new website for all family pictures. Let me just say that it is depressing scanning so many pictures of people that I havn't met, or pictures of loved ones passed on. Read More...

I'm home from texas

The funeral and graveside went ok. Most people think it went well, but it just isn't so. Too much family politics. From my view (and i certainly didnt see everything) it was mainly a side dominating and a side backing down. Not what should have happened at a funeral, and best not happen at my Grandfather's. It was something I wish my Grandfather had not lived to see. Enough about that. Read More...

Headed to Texas

As most of you have heard, my grandmother died of cancer a couple of days ago. I waited on posting, until I knew Jason had received his red cross message in Iraq. I didnt want him to find out through a webpage. So tomorrow I fly home to Texas to attend the funeral, and see my grandfather, parents, brother, and the rest of the family.

My Water Broke...

That got your attention didn't it, hehe. Actually it didn't. I went to sleep with an almost full open 16 oz. bottle of water in my hands (not on purpose) and I woke up really wet and cold. So I sat straight up and said "My water broke" to my husband. I thought it was pretty funny, he didn't though.
Lots of other things going on around this house. Mostly trying to get ready for holidays and baby. Steven should write in the next couple days. Just thought I'd give a funny.

My First Post

Well since Steven's been writing quite a bit about me I thought I'd put in my two cents as well. Let's see, I got back on Saturday, November 19th from Washington. It was quite an eventful trip (a little too eventful as you can see from earlier posts). I had quite a bit of fun though. I saw several people I had not seen in a while, spent time with family, learned Josh outgrew me (sniff, sniff), met my nephew for the first time, went to some fun restaurants, and had a baby shower. BTW I wanted to thank everyone who came to my baby shower and my mom and Lynda for throwing it. It was pretty fun and the gifts were much needed. Read More...

Märia is back at the hospital...

Yeah, I just got off the phone again. She is having contractions again, and this time she can feel them. Last time she couldn't feel them at all; she only knew she was having them because a computer told her so. =) So she is on the way back to the hospital, where she will probably stay until Seporah is born. More news in the next few hours. I will post if I fly home (and give Lynda a call=). Read More...

Seporah's in a Hurry =)

Märia is safe at her parent's house, technically on bedrest. She says that she is having contractions again, slowly, and there is no way that Seporah is waiting 6 whole weeks for birth. =) I guess she is just in a hurry.

Märia is home now

Well, they let Märia go home after her mom promised to keep her in bed. She is technically on bedrest, and still not allowed to fly, so it will be a bit before we see each other again. She has another appointment on Friday. That is it for news.

Go over to GizmoProject.com, download Gizmo Project and add me, MacStreet. It is a great little program. Excellent voice chat and IM integration. =) Read More...

2 more days in the hospital, minimum

Well, it looks like Märia's contractions have stopped completely. They have stopped the anticontraction medication, and the contractions are not coming back. They want to hold her for at least 2 more days, and possibly up to 5 more days, just to make sure everything is fine. I don't quite understand why they are holding her. Read More...

Labor has stopped...

Well, it seems the medicine they have been giving her has stopped the labor. They will cease on the medicine tomorrow morning, and possibly hold her another day to make sure the labor doesn't come back. It seems that she isn't having gestational diabetes afterall. Apparently the steroids they gave her just before they took the tests threw them off. So the cause of the preterm labor is really up in the air, possibly just germies. Will update when we get more news.

As of now, we will not be moving to Hawaii after all, at least not until after the baby is born. So I will be putting a crib together over the next few days. =) Read More...

Quick Märia Update

---Quote---

To Whom It May Concern:

Mrs Märia D Rushing was admitted to Labor and Delivery unit at Madigan Army Medical Center due to preterm contractions and concern for preterm labor. She is currently undergoing treatment to stop labor. She is currently 33+1/7 weeks gestation. She was scheduled to fly to Georgia on 16 Nov 05; however, this is not medically recommended.

Well, it's Gestational Diabetes

Apparently Märia has had it the whole time, but she eats so well that no one picked up on it. She says that she didn't eat too many sweets yesterday at her baby shower, but I am guessing that is what aggravated everything. Read More...

May be having a baby...

... but probably not. If you havn't heard, Märia is in the hospital with pre-term labor. She was having contractions and everything when she woke up this morning. They are trying to stop the contractions. Maybe she will be able to come home, maybe not. They are saying they don't want her flying anymore, so she may have the baby in washington state. I will keep you posted. Read More...

Quick Update

Well, It's Monday night at 7:50, here in Iraq. And I figured I'd drop you guys a little update on my life. Today I woke up at about 7:30 and quickly dressed for work. I loaded up on my bike and then rode the mile and a half up to my van where I fix radios. I forgot to wake up Jason and Dan though . So they weren't happy with me, but luckily they got their rears in gear in about 10 minutes time, dressed and then rode the 2 minute ride to work. So we all made it (almost) on time. Read More...

Google Maps and Abortion

Well, I guess I have news. Märia and I are going to Hawaii in October or November to live. =) Pretty exciting huh? Märia is running around singing this song: I'm goin to Havaii, I'm goin to Havaii. I keep telling her its Hawaii, but she says they pronounce it there with a V. I guess I will know in a few months. =) I tested out of SMU today. It is just one of many annexes to the school I am attending right now. Stands for Switching and Multiplexing Unit. Just a big telephone pbx really, with some data capabilities. Read More...

Luther, Phantom of the Opera and Apple!

Märia bought me an iMac for my birthday! It took me completely by surprise. She and her mother just came in from shopping, and asked me to help them carry in some stuph from the car, and sitting in the trunk was an iMac box. This page is now being made exlusively on the Mac, using Nvu, iPhoto and Homepage. Nvu is an html editor sponsored by Linspire. iPhoto and Homepage are Mac products, part of iLife suite. I am totally enjoying my Mac, you guys need to head down to an apple store and take one for a test drive. They are very nice and very knowledgeable at the apple stores, and you can sit and play on a Mac for as long as you want. Read More...
