2nd Seporah Ultrasounds and The Corpse Bride

Märia and I had the opportunity to see The Corpse Bride on Saturday, and let me say that we thoroughly enjoyed it.  It is a stop-action animated movie (similar to claymation, but not as rough), similar to The Nightmare Before Christmas.  Bride borrows a great deal from the earlier movie by Tim Burton.  The world has the same eerieness, and the characters are similarly long and thin.

The Corpse Bride is advertised as a comedy.  If you go in wanting a comedy, you will probably come out disappointed.  This movie is a drama, and deserves to be considered respectfully.  It is the story of a born loser from an up-and-coming middle class family who is to wed the daughter of a newly poor noble family in need of money.  As this is an arranged marraige, both characters are quite apprehensive.  This anxiety paired with the male character's nervous personality lead to him really really botching the vows at the practice ceremony.  So off into the woods he goes, apparently finding a cemetery to be a great place to practice his vows.  He inadvertantly swears his vows to the corpse bride, and our story takes off.

It is certainly funny at times, but this is a serious story, for a serious audience. I would not suggest taking children under the age of 8 to see it; they simply will not appreciate it.

As for character names or voice actors names, forgive me.  I do not have access to the internet as I am on staff duty, and it really isnt all that important to the review anyways.
